INITIATIVE FOR COFFEE AND CLIMATE

The project

Project objective

The initiative aims to study the influence of climate change on coffee production, to transfer key knowledge and technologies to growers that respond effectively to constantly changing conditions.

Activities underway

The project was launched in Brazil, Tanzania, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador and Vietnam. The Foundation has worked for many years with Cecafé, the association of Brazilian coffee exporters, as part of the “Criança do café na escola” project for the development of IT labs in primary schools in the coffee-growing areas (40 labs have been created to date).
For a large coffee roaster like Lavazza, supporting coffee growers along their path of sustainable development is certainly a question of ethics, but it is also the expression of a forward-thinking approach and a way to protect its business.
