THE RECIPE OF A SURPRISING COLD BREW COFFEE

Lavazza wants to tell you the secrets of making this refreshing and tasty cold brew coffee.

By Lavazza Team 2/3 minutes

Cold Brew coffee is rich in aromatic properties and can be stored for more than a day.

Made using a cold extraction system that requires at least 7 or 8 hours of processing, the device used to make this preparation is known as a Toddy and it is made up of 3 sections: an upper glass jar where the cold water is placed, a central container for ground coffee and a lower carafe to collect the final product.

The coffee is mixed with the water one drop at a time, for percolation of about 8 drops every 10 seconds.

HOW DOES THE COLD-BREW WORK?

The drops pass through the coffee powder, capturing its characteristics, and coming out coloured and rich in aromas and substances. The advantage of this drink is its shelf life which allows you to prepare it in larger quantities; in fact, a coffee extracted with the cold brew method can be kept for up to 2/3 days in the refrigerator.

Although the United States made Cold Brew coffee famous in the coffee world, in Japanese people were already enjoying it in the 1600s.

During that period, Dutch merchants began introducing it to the rest of the world; which is why now it is also known as Dutch Coffee or Kyoto Coffee.

Just like every star, Cold Brew Coffee also has secrets of its own.
